I am currently watching American Idol. It made me think... would I audition for American Idol?
Well, I guess I could. I really think I could, just listening to a number of those who auditioned.
Don't get me wrong because I don't have a great voice. If it is good, maybe good enough for karaoke. Hmmm... it would be a dream to hear Simon Cowell's voice "good for karaoke, not for American Idol". In case I do get to audition and they asked why I auditioned, I would answer "because I love to sing!" And I will just truly sing. Nope, I wouldn't even dream of saying I want to be the next American Idol. I would even say "No to Hollywood" to me. Honest! I just want to get the feel of an audition, along with thousands of wannabes, waiting for 12 hours (huwaat!). I am not even sure which is worse, the one who auditions or the one who screens. Wait a minute! I guess it's easier to be a judge since a judge gets to be paid being frank. Listening to out-of-tuners is part of the deal.
So, I may not be an American Idol type (with Pinoy Ako background). But then I haven't really dreamt of being one.
But have I auditioned for a part before? Yup, way back in sixth grade! I can't remember everything but I was pretty sure that I mimicked a Palmolive commercial of Lea Salonga. And I got a major role in the school play. I guess that role paved the way for me to play a part in a the Sound of Music shortened play in first year high school, which means I didn't audition for that role (hehehe). And yes, I sang live in that musical (although, there parts that I had some back-up when I had to belt-out 'goodbye' in the So Long, Farewell number)
That's about the real life auditions I did although I do admit that I have had thoughts of auditioning for theatre. But those were just thoughts because I don't think I have really what it takes to really make it all the way. And don't worry, because I am contented with my thoughts. And who knows what the future holds? I am just 25... just 25!
