It's just nice when people who don't have much in life share whatever they have.
I got on a jeep last week where the driver offered some mangosteen that he just bought for P20. I was the only passenger at that time when he offered it. He said he is sincere in the offer, not just the typical Filipino who just offers out of respect. I said thank you, I'm okay. He just said that maybe because I just brushed my teeth (correct!). Anyway, he also offered some of his mangosteen to this other driver who changed his bill to coins.
Just this afternoon, our jeepney driver before offered a ride from the basketball court hanggang kanto .. for free. I was thankful and thought that it was nice of him knowing that the P5.25 I was supposed to pay him would go a long way in his family.
When I was a naive kid, I used to think that it was really nice for the Indonesian Consulate, near our home, to have all those flags when it's time for my dad's birthday. Eventually, I found out that my dad's birthday falls on the same date of Indonesia's Independence Day (or something like that). My dad used to say "buti pa ang Indonesian Consulate maalala ang birthday, ang gobyerno dito sa Pilipinas hindi jud." Hehehe .. Happy 55th Birthday Dad!
