Last Saturday was a day of contradictions.
I was ecstatic for I have played badminton again after months of wanting to play it. After studying in school with my classmates, we had an hour to play the game. It was fun but kulang (just like Cream Silk's shampoo lang is kulang ad .. free advertising here!) I was also happy since I saw three of my batchmates in college .. nice, isn't it?
I also felt embarrassed for Davao City that night. After the game, I proceeded to Gaisano Mall to have I merienda with my mom and brother. Around 7 pm, it was raining hard. Our Crosswind was with our dad, good thing (I'm not sure if it was really a good thing) we got a taxi. Anyway, the taxi stalled when we got to Boulevard. Yes, we had to get out of the taxi so I had to remove my socks and walked in the flood a bit just to get to the curb. My brother almost lost his Star Wars slipper. To think that Davao is the most livable city in the Philippines .. but I don't think so. I think they forgot to factor in that Davao gets flooded .. maybe not like in Marikina. But it still gets flooded!!!! Something has to be done! After school, when it rains, the taxi driver asks us where we are going to get off, where to pass and how flooded it is going to our place. Trick question! A number of streets in the downtown area gets flooded. And don't ask about our subdivision, the road sucks and the drainage system doesn't seem to work well. Last Saturday's strong rain lasted for about 2 hours before winding down. Just imagine if the rain would go on for hours!
I am not sure what to do about it. I'll try to tell Mayor Duterte and let the councilors know to stop bickering and look at what happens to Davao City when it rains .. it pours jud! I'll try but in the mean time, I'll continue my prayers!
