The Sweetest Thing

Yesterday was Teacher's Day.

Since this semester was just my first time to teach and considering that I am only a part time teacher, I was hesitant to involve myself with the activities. It was not really a super big event for me.

I still held my classes. And I was truly appreciative of the "Happy Teacher's Day" greetings I received from my students. Actually, it was all new for me. My reply is a simple "Thank you and same to you". That made them smile (or laugh .. hehe)

Anyhow, all is well and done. A new day began today .. or so I thought.

As I dismissed one of my classes, they gave me this green cartolina with messages and a drawing of me (!) plus 3 whiteboard markers.

I did not cry. I was not even teary-eyed. But I was truly keeping my composure, really trying hard to keep my composure. I decided not to read their notes right then and there because I don't know what I would do, hehe.

I don't think they were making sipsip. It would not affect their grades, hehe. Most of them won't need it anyway to pass the subject.

Thank you to my students of 2BM-A 2009-2010, as in!

Truly, the sweetest thing ;)

Don't Stop Believin'

Since Wednesday night, this song has been ringing in my head.

I was even quietly humming it today when my students were having their quiz. And it was the song playing on the radio as me and my sister were on our way home.

So, I can't help if I post the lyrics here. I love GLEE!

Just a small town girl
livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere

A singer in a smoky room
The smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the nights
Streetlights, people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the nights

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice
Just one more time

Some will win, some will lose
Some are born to sing the blues
And now the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

Don't stop believin
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight, people
(repeat)

Don't stop!

Valentine's Day

I was really looking forward watching this movie. And why not, it has an all-star cast! Not to mention that Julia Roberts is included.

I was hoping to watch it at the Red Carpet but it was the Percy Jackson film that was being shown. I was thinking that people will be lining up since this is Valentine's Day, a movie with big names that is shown during the Valentine season.

But it wasn't that much actually. Maybe because the reviews were lukewarm. I don't know.

Anyhow, the film was pretty simple and the plot lines were generally expected. Don't expect much, especially if you're a big fan of Love Actually (which I really like!)

But there is one story line that made it all worth it for me. But I won't tell for now so as not to be branded as a spoiler .. hehe ;)

In the end, the movie was indeed worth it considering that I was in good company on that pre-Valentine celebration ;)

Belated Valentine's Day everyone ;)

Girl and TV

I am actually in a bind about what to blog this time.

I have been thinking of writing about students, food, Valentine's Day (the movie .. and sige na nga, the day itself .. ahem .. hehe), bar (bar what?), Survivor, PBB, etc, etc and so forth.

But thinking about my topics, I think I could hit many birds (isn't this animal cruelty? ngayon ko lang narealize after saying this for such a long time!) with one stone by putting into one blog one of my favorite topics .. TV!!!

PBB Season 3 is over and done. Paul Jake was my favorite but I do not harbour any ill feelings against Melai. She did make me laugh for months! But of course, I really have to comment about how Melai votes were encouraged .. by showing that Paul Jake was leading (with a huge margin!) around 5 days before the Big Night. Oh well, I really cannot take much against it since I really don't vote .. hehe ;)

Last night I felt that weeknights on TV are now boring without PBB.

But talk about perfect timing. Amazing Race started just yesterday. CSI: Las Vegas will begin its new season on AXN starting Feb 24. Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains started last week. And American Idol is on every Wednesdays and Thursdays. And of course, there's Glee.

So, I think I'm back to my old habit of knowing what day it is by taking note of what was shown the other night. I had this habit while reviewing for the CPA Board Exam and while I was working as a computer programmer.

Thus, here is my TV sked (week nights that is:)
Monday - Amazing Race
Tuesday - I haven't figured what show to watch on this night though .. hehe
Wednesday - Glee, American Idol and CSI:Las Vegas (soon)
Thursday - American Idol
Friday - Survivor

Saturday & Sunday - let's just wait and see ;)

Love

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Just marking this date .. Advanced Happy Valentine's Day everyone ;)

Walk-Out (my version)

I was on lecture mode - reviewing the class for their midterm exams.

But still, a few students had a world of their own at the back row.

I told them to keep quiet. If they cannot keep quiet, they should leave the class.

They didn't.

I continued with my review but I can still hear voices (not in my head .. I'm pretty sure).

I guess I was pretty fed up. I stopped my lecture and decided that I would walk out of the class.

But I still asked the class to have our closing prayer.

But I still took some time to put things on my bag.

But I still erased the board.

But I still entertained questions from my other students.

In other words, hindi ako marunong mag-walk-out. Pastilan! ;)

Salamat

Words are not enough to express my utmost gratitude for everything that has come my way in my 29 years of existence.

Thank you Lord ;)
